David is retired, a Lay Preacher and a member of Charlestown Garden Suburb Uniting Church. He is very involved in both the local church and in the Presbytery. He attends a Men’s Shed in the suburb, Windale, and enjoys tinkering there with the other guys. He is married to Laraine and they have 2 adult married children that live some distance away.
James and John struggle to get the picture of what Jesus was telling them.
However Bartimaeus, even though he was blind, did get the picture.
He had faith to become part of that contingent that walked with Jesus towards Jerusalem.
Sometimes our the path to God may mean ‘turning around’ (Metanoia) and seeing things differently.
EPIPHANY – “an illuminating discovery” according to one definition.
The Magi were gentiles, foreigners – the opposite end of society, that came to worship the newborn king.
They came to know the blessings of being part of God’s love for humanity and creation as a whole.
Jesus is the Saviour of all people not just for those in the church.
Two ordinary people both had extraordinary dreams and visions, then struggled with life and all its emotions.
Jesus was born and assures us that
Immanuel is with us!
