Catherine (Peps) Pepper Is a creative thinker, innovator, educator, and environmental engineer who is passionate about sustainability, creativity, justice, and grassroots social change. Some of her favourite things are vegetables that grow up by themselves in her garden, singing ‘a capella’, and laughing with good friends. Peps is based on Awabakal country in Newcastle NSW.

“We can read the Bible and be shocked!

Today we have a nameless woman, 1st Nations person from Canaan, considered pagan and unclean.

She comes to Jesus asking for healing of her sick daughter. Jesus gives her the expected answer of rejection.

However, her persistence is courageous and Jesus’ response moves to respect and inclusion.

The daughter is healed, grace is received and a new way of thinking is modelled”.

Many rivers and wetlands are being revived and cleaned so that in the environment, people and animals can share the spaces. This is happening world wide.

Today we hear about some of the places in NSW where programs and places are being developed.

New hope is being given to species in our environment. Rivers are being refreshed.

Our society works on ‘rules for good people and punishment for bad things’. In suffering this is challenged.
In Isaiah, God says that he worked differently, persevering in faith in adversity.
In Luke the story about the bad Fig tree is challenged, but with caring and nurture, good is achieved.
