Mark’s Gospel makes no mention of a baby in a manger, shepherds or angels.
In Mark we are introduced to the grown up, ready to act Jesus.
Be revitalized by knowing this Jesus, attuned to our darkness of despair, disbelief and aching loneliness that affects many humans today. This is where we find the ‘Gold’ without the ‘Glitter’.
Generosity with possessions, time and mercy is a good and precious gift – a sign that we have been touched by the generosity of God.
Systems that seek to manipulate and exploit are not the ways of God – be wary!
Our human experience can never be separated from the well-being of our planet. Wisdom can be ‘home spun’ by letting the earth and it’s creatures speak to us.
Love that reaches across differences of class, race, religion, sexual identity and colour is fully inclusive. It calls for justice, peace, equality of all humanity and the care for all people and creation We are called to no longer be servants but friends!
There is a difference between making a deal with God and making a vow to God. Hannah was an inspiration recognizing that whatever happens will be of God and therefore belongs to God. Even Godly people experience times of deep anguish and trouble.
Jesus took the demons on – his actions were counter cultural.
He was not looking for fame. When Jesus confronted demons, he spoke the truth, showed compassion, spent time in prayer and enabled the service of others.
