SEASON OF CREATION

For the month of September, we generally follow the Season of Creation, now celebrated worldwide and the brainchild of Normal Habel, a Lutheran minster based in South Australia. The Season of Creation is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment together. During the Season of Creation, we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home. Norman Habel saw creation as deserving a season of its own to complement Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Advent and Pentecost. Giving birth is an ordinary process for women all over the world – maybe for some it is more vulnerable and risky.

Through the birth of this baby the world would be turned on its head,
God enters irrevocably and extraordinarily into human history to show the way of God in the world. The ‘Good News’ is that God continues to be with us in our joys and struggles.

Our world is yearning for liberation from poverty, domestic violence, suffering of Indigenous people’s and more, yearning for something more meaningful – God sent Jesus to do just that!

Jesus invites us to touch our yearnings at the deepest level to experience a more meaningful life; living a life in God, and God living a life through us, that will bring peace, joy and hope.

Many rivers and wetlands are being revived and cleaned so that in the environment, people and animals can share the spaces. This is happening world wide.

Today we hear about some of the places in NSW where programs and places are being developed.

New hope is being given to species in our environment. Rivers are being refreshed.

Jesus travelled light – stripped away all that was not necessary.

In times of much transformation – we need to travel lightly.

Let the unnecessary go. Simply carry with you the Love of God who loves you.

Love yourself, neighbor and even enemies.
