Paul shows us God never abandons us – the Spirit is always ready to empower us, to bring healing and gives words for the glory of God and to share the Spirit wherever we go.

Two people contrasted in this parable! A pharisee and a tax collector.

One is like a smart box with a closed lid and the other like a plain open basket.

One is self interested, proud and closed, the other humble open and ready to receive love.

That is what followers of Jesus need to be, not self seeking, welcoming God’s love.

Mary was a young Jewish woman in a Roman empire and pregnant out of wedlock – an underdog!

In her lonely situation she still sings praise for the God who extends mercy.

A God who has good news to the poor and oppressed.

Our minds and faith are easily led away from Christ. Domestic violence increases, along with suicides.
Easy to waste time seeking in the wrong places for the peace Christ came to bring – Christ is available for all today.
