17th May, 2026 (Year A – Easter 7) “Relating to our Enemies”

In the Old Testament, enemies are seen as enemies of God and to be destroyed.

In the Gospel, Jesus teaches that we must love our enemies.

They are to be offered forgiveness, power is not displayed through destruction, but through self-giving love.

The tension between justice and mercy and our calling to love, is the challenge for the Christian Faith.

INTER-GENERATIONAL TALK

Jesus told the disciples to wait in Jerusalem.

Waiting did not mean doing nothing. It meant trusting. It meant praying. It meant being ready.

Sometimes we are like the disciples and want all the answers right now.

Waiting can be apart of God’s plan for us.
