Families can sometimes be damaging.  Even in the time of Jesus’ ministry this happened.
Jesus’ ministry was to liberate people from the powers that oppressed them.
God always offers an open relationship of acceptance; of forgiveness; of belonging.

There is a difference between making a deal with God and making a vow to God. Hannah was an inspiration recognizing that whatever happens will be of God and therefore belongs to God. Even Godly people experience times of deep anguish and trouble.
