Our world is yearning for liberation from poverty, domestic violence, suffering of Indigenous people’s and more, yearning for something more meaningful  – God sent Jesus to do just that!

Jesus invites us to touch our yearnings at the deepest level to experience a more meaningful life; living a life in God, and God living a life through us, that will bring peace, joy and hope.

Following rules and instructions is not always popular in our present society. Some like to just ‘do their own thing’!

Today there is a challenge to follow rules that will build unity and an element of community in our society.

What would it look like to be ‘imitators’ of Jesus in our lives where love, kindness and forgiveness shine?

4th August 2024 (Year B -Pentecost 11) “When Does Eternal Life Start?”

The term ‘Bread of Heaven’ is about divine food for our inner selves.

The nourishment we need to accept we can live as the people we should be right now.

The ‘Bread of Heaven’ is for life in this world, eternal life is for this life now.

Putting aside focusing on ourselves, and sharing the fundamental truth, God is Love.

From a world point of view this is where Jesus peaks!  In a good movie, this is where the hero reaches out with compassion, turns to his friends for help, and then full of confidence – bingo, the action happens and everybody is satisfied!

However, Jesus is not the ‘big show person’ of a movie, but the servant with a humble heart, the only hope for this world.

This is the Majesty of the “Good News” – Jesus is the real deal King.

21st July 2024 (Year B -Pentecost 9) “Were You Born in a Tent?”

Middle aged David decides to settle down and builds a great palace for himself – thinks he should build a great place for God to live in too.

The Lord speaks through Nathan to David, to tell him  that he is quite happy slumming it in a tent!

God stays with people who have not found a place to settle. God in a tent, actually wants the best for us!

David’s great, great grandson came, Jesus, and “the word became flesh and dwelt among us” – the promise of God for every season of our lives.

14th July 2024 (Year B -Pentecost 8) “A Blessing in De-Spies”

These days we never know when or where we are being watched. Invisible cameras are appearing everywhere and some one is at the other end checking on us!

There is another invisible eye that watches over us because we have been chosen from the foundation of time.

For those who know His goodness, this invisible eye can be a source of Joy, Blessing and Encouragement.

7th July 2024 (Year B -Pentecost 7) “Something Amazing”

The men of the Synagogue could not believe that a Carpenter (Jesus), could be trusted as being a man of God, full of love and grace.

When control that manages the details of our life is relinquished and we start to trust in God, then real soul experiences will happen as God has our best interests at heart.  Exercise patience and pay attention to life around you and wait to be surprised by God.

30th June 2024 (Year B -Pentecost 6) “Hope at the end of the Rope”

Jesus knows no barriers of age, culture, wealth or religious status. He is in charge and his timing is perfect.
We can come to him anywhere, at any time, with our needs for ourselves or for others.
Our requests can be public or asked quietly and privately.
When we seem to be “at the end of of the rope” Jesus says, “Don’t be afraid, only believe”. Jesus gives hope to all.

23rd June 2024 (Year B -Pentecost 5) “Why Are You Afraid?”

Finding peace and calmness in the troubles that surround us, is not easy. Fear is often present.
However if we practice a consciousness of Christ in our lives, everyday, this will bring peace and calmness so we can recognise there is no need to be afraid.
God is always present whether we are conscious of it or not.
