1st October 2023 (Year A – Pentecost 18) “The Two Sons”

William Barclay refers to this story as:  ‘The Better of Two Bad Sons’. Neither brings gratitude to the father – at first! Our religious knowledge and practice are not always consistent with our actions and attitudes.  God looks for performance, “Show me what you can do in my vineyard”. Despite all our failures, God’s offer of Grace is for everyone.

ALL AGE MESSAGE

Worldly Kings and Queens live a very different life to what King Jesus did. He put aside his power to be a servant. The only crown he wore was a ‘Crown of Thorns’.  Choosing to be a servant, Christians should shadow the servant-hood of Jesus.
