17th September 2023 (Year A – Pentecost 16) “The Verdict is: Forgiven”
The power of God’s extravagant forgiveness is so great, so beautiful, so mystifying, that it surely cannot help but change us.
We cannot experience it and then go on being closed to others.
Restorative justice calls out oppression and violence for the evil they are and judges them: forgiven.
SEASON OF CREATION
For the month of September, we generally include the Season of Creation, now celebrated worldwide and the brainchild of Normal Habel, a Lutheran minister based in South Australia. The Season of Creation is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all creation through celebration, conversion, and commitment together.
During the Season of Creation, we join our sisters and brothers in the ecumenical family in prayer and action for our common home in the All Age message. Norman Habel saw creation as deserving a season of its own to complement Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, Advent and Pentecost. We hear about and see, some of the beauty of our diverse Australian Outback.
We learn about the needs to manage that place so that its fragility will remain for the next generations.
We give thanks for the wonderful land that God has given us to care for and enjoy.
