“We can read the Bible and be shocked!
Today we have a nameless woman, 1st Nations person from Canaan, considered pagan and unclean.
She comes to Jesus asking for healing of her sick daughter. Jesus gives her the expected answer of rejection.
However, her persistence is courageous and Jesus’ response moves to respect and inclusion.
The daughter is healed, grace is received and a new way of thinking is modelled”.
The 2 disciples acted on what they were asked to do This provided the means for Jesus to claim unique kingship over Jerusalem and the world. We never know how God will use our obedience.
Having sheep in the time Jesus was in Israel, was very different to being a sheep farmer now.
In this story Jesus sends disciples out to the lost sheep (people) of the house of Israel.
They were to go and do what He did – face all the challenges and spread the gospel to all the nations.
They were to belong to and continue, the movement Jesus began.
For Advent, we have four welcome videos that you can use as an opener for worship presentations. Here is the first video. Thanks to Maria Williams for her talent and effort in producing these thoughtful additions to worship. Thanks also to Rod Barnes from Adamstown UC for the musical background Being ‘ready’ is not about…
Hosea in the 8th Century lived in a divided Kingdom and he spoke to the people about their separation from the God that still loved them.
By returning back to God’s ways they knew God would heal them, bind up their wounds and restore them.
It seems this message of ‘turning back to God’ is as relevant today in this Century, God wants more than words but our actions.
God does not give up on His people.
An amazing message of inclusive gracious love!
Everybody matters – every single person is included in the household of God.
