15th February, 2026 (Year A – Transfiguration of Jesus) “The Brickmakers & God with us on the Job”

This month as a special treat we have an extraordinary set of 4 sermons from David Barrow.
We thought we should recognise the exceptional quality of David’s messages by making them available as a continuous set in February to give a 4-volume unpacking based on the Old Testament story of the Jews from Joseph to Moses. These are very high-quality presentations – every much as relevant to the twenty first century as to the BC era.
This means that we will have a 4 week break with the lectionary, which is based on three-year cycles (A, B, and C). We are now re-entering Year A, so if you want to stick to the lectionary, links to the previous Year A are accessible through the 4 links from last year below.
Sunday 29th January 2023, Epiphany 4 “Truly, deeply blessed” – Rev Dr Mark Hillis
Sunday 5th February 2023, Epiphany 5 “On Salt and Light” – Miriam Pepper
Sunday 12th February 2023, Epiphany 6 “Rope of Life” – Lothar Nowak
Sunday 19th February 2023, Transfiguration “What does it look like?” – Rev Rob Hanks
Sunday 26th February 2023, Lent 1 “Into the wilderness” – Catherine Pepper
TODAY – God takes note of brick quotas. God takes note of Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s).
God takes notice when workers are shamed as “lazy” inside systems designed to break them.
Work life and faith life are not separate. Faithfulness is often smaller and more local and God takes notice.
ALL AGE MESSAGE
This is about people who were expected to work under very unfair conditions.
They were told it was their fault, even though the expectations were very unreal.
The bosses did not hear their complaints so they called out to God, not Pharaoh, and God’s ears heard them.
